Hey guys ease up on her. She is an athlete giving an interview not a diplomat. Besides track needs more characters like her, that say something that get you to watch for her in other races and, of course, to see her make it in the finals. Like, on another level, Mohammed Ali in boxing. Go Anna.
Really? Gee, there goes that theory. I'm so glad there are smart people out there to fill the rest of us in. I'll bet Bob really thought Anonymous Coward was Jenny's mom, too! Hahaha, what a dope!
She said she came there and "only wanted to PR." However Ryan said during the race that he talked to her and he knows she came here and wanted to break 9;20. And the last interview she stated she was ready to run 9:15. Nothing wrong with not getting it but fess up and admit it. Makes ya look better.
well if you've seen enough stuff with this girl then that thought wouldn't even go through your mind. she is has never come off as y. she is always energetic and excited to run. she is a competitor and has run well enough to have high standards for herself. its iness because thats how you let yourself hear it. all i am saying is pay attention to some other stuff that she has done and you should get what i'm talking about.
That's the Problem,
YES confidence is good. However confidence isn't necesarily exemplified by talk. Many talkers are in fact not confidence at all. I'm just saying let your performance speak for you. Saying "I know I will make the finals" borders on, well, c0ckiness.
anonymous,
too many runners dont have confidence and let themselves fall short. if you get to the olympics and set your sites on making the finals that is awesome...especially for her. she should be in the final. if you think with the mindset like "oh so much can happen, i may fall, i may get hurt, and so on...." then whats the point? you're never going to reach where you should be. anna should be in the final in beijing and should be aiming for it.
She says she knows she wille make the finals in Bejing? I certainly hope she does but really. . . so many things can happen, and if she doesn't she will probably learn to let her actions do the talking. Lessons in humility are sometimes hard.
She's a competitor and she's being honest about how she feels. It's better than a Nuke LaLouche speech. Women's steeple at the Olympics is going to be a great story.
Wow. She "knows" she will make the finals in Bejing??? Confidence or iness. . . her last interview she stated she was "ready to go under 9:15- what happened? Oft times it is best to let your performance do the talking.
Yes Anna has a great attitude and a winning laugh/smile.
But, just for comparision, check out the interview with Mark Carroll.
Mark was putting his entire career behind him, not just one race...and he has a champion's smile/laugh.

Um, Anonymous coward is the default name I do believe. . .
