wow, that was awesome. The last 100 was a little ugly, but I guess I shouldn't talk since he beats my pr by about 32 seconds. I wonder why he's so inconsistent though?

SCARBROUGH...57 in the 400?...that makes her a sprinter which means she wouldn't be giving alan webb advice, shut ya mouth.

Hamilton, Jason October 7, 2007 at 11:23am.
Your are really good and i am a huge fan, but i hate to break it to you but i am goin to have that record one day along with the 5000.

Anonymous Coward August 22, 2007 at 10:15pm.
Let's keep the comments clean. There is no need for all the bleeped out words on this site. Alan Webb is a great runner and that is all that needs to be said.
#91
SCARBROUGH August 20, 2007 at 8:45am.
I don't care if the guy CRAWLS, SKIPS, or does the damn CRAB WALK on his last quarter... the beast just set a new record. My little sister ran a 57 as a freshman...i guess that maked her qualified to give A.Webb advice eh?
#90
Anonymous Coward August 18, 2007 at 8:49pm.
that's not that fast...

Alan is a world class runner, and a quality person. When we comment on him, let others see in you, what they see in Alan. Enough of the empty words that defile and hurt good people. Let those that have ears hear. If you respond to this comment in a negative way- you don't hear me.
#88
Paul August 14, 2007 at 8:11pm.
Kaelin- Thats sounds like advice from an expert!!! What do you coach middle school track? All coaches say tuck your chin and drive your legs, thats kind of the correct way to run. You must be a born hater, dont hate on his running style unless you can equal it. Ha, he is probably faster than you in the 1/4 and your giving advice! hahaa

#83
Anonymous Coward August 9, 2007 at 10:51am.
Yeah why would you try to teach Webb form? I mean its not like he needs your awesome former quarter miler coaching, you must know a ton. Seriously, keep your advice to yourself... it's not needed here.
#82
Aaron Junta August 8, 2007 at 6:30pm.
IM SO GLAD YOU GUYS ARE DOING THIS!!!
#81
Kaelin August 6, 2007 at 3:41am.
Great run, definitely had more left with fast recovery at the end. As a former quarter miler, suggest keeping your arms tucked in, drive and lift for speed.

Wow! Watch this loop several times a day for running inspiration. A-Webb's race was great, but Deena (sp?) makes my socks roll up and down! What a sweeetheart! I adore Deena!

Is there any argument that the Four Hoursemen of American Long Distence running are the late, great Steve Prefontaine, Dave Wattle, Steve Scott, and Alan Webb...?
#70
Dana Breeden July 24, 2007 at 12:42pm.
first - trackfan post a link to this article cuz i wanna see what you're talkin about with my own eyes.
secondly - whoever lol is. that drug is a dirty word for the factor it's what makes our sport so overly criticized. everytime someone comes along and does well they must be on it and everyone just tears them down whether or not they get caught. I'm glad it's censored, though its kind of annoying when it blocks out r***rt due to the e-p-o being in that order haha.
#69
Dana Breeden July 23, 2007 at 10:29pm.
alf... iddno whether you're bein sarcastic or not but hey... atleast i didn't just write "f1rst" or try and make some stupid comment about this *** bull$hit people wanna talk about... but in case you really do luv people like me... thanks! :)

#67
Trackfan July 23, 2007 at 8:03pm.
For all those commenting about ***, the ONLY place I have heard any comments or rumors about Webb being on *** is on this board. Where is this crap coming from and why is it "suspect" that he's running well now? After all he ran a 3:53 mile in high school and a 3:32 1500 in 2005, so based on that alone I would fully expect he would be running the times he is right now. I don't see anything suspect about it at all. Give it a rest.....until proven otherwise.

#65
Leo July 23, 2007 at 7:19pm.
In a simple track meet with no fanfare, lights and almost empty stands an American runner dares to go where the very few and almost none has ever gone before and now he is among the 10 fastest milers in history. I have to admit that I was moved as I witnessed this broadcast by Flocast. It has been a privilage to be part (as an spectator) of this moment and the confirmation that there are many other American hopefuls who can also step up. My congratulation to Allen and to all of those (unseen) who have assisted him in his realization.

Great race. Congrats Webb, and thank you Flotrack!. I love the content of flotrack. Seeing athletes through more candid interviews (than ESPN), where you actually can see/hear someone's personality makes me more of a fan of our distance elite, and will cheer even louder at Worlds.

Yeah guys, I was there (remember the American Waffle King, Mark?).

What was most impressive was the fact that Webb ran the latter part of the race on his own (check out the Dream mile video - Scott was racing his competitors). Other was that the meet hadn't got a real good atmosphere. The small crowd was loud (mostly athletes), but next week in Heusden the stadium will be packed with 'ordinary' fans who really cheer on the athletes. Those race will be even beter. (check out the results at http://www.atletiekvlaanderen.be => these are GP results)

let paris hilton run a red light and it just so happens every camera in the world catches it live but Alan Webb anounces almost a week b4 his attempt that he was going after the American Record and you hear nothing of it in the United States besides track and field websites. IM PROUD OF ALAN THE GREAT

Super Race...such a cool low key affair. Flotrack got the feel of it and I am happy flotrack has the video...the announcing is authentic. The excitement is real. And Alan Webb is great. His interview is, too. I am a U.M. trueblue fan and have always been and remained a Webb fan. I am sooo happy!

"Why is so jumpy and slow?" He is jumping to warm up his muscles (a sprinter's technique). He is slow because he is attempt to conserve his energy. Awesome history in the making. Hopefully more to be made in Japan and the Olympics.
