Congratulations Amy! I watched you run during your days at East Noble HS and it has been neat to see you grow and clinch this great milestone and goal in your running career. Job well done and best wishes at The Games in Beijing!

Amy, watched you run in high school and knew you DESERVED all the
success you would achieve. Congratulations and hoping the BEST is
still ahead of you. Great interview, Mark.

Great interview, Mark! Amy's mom Linda and uncle Bruce Dixon attended Chesterton (Indiana) High School which has a great track and distance racing tradition. I bet Amy's family wasn't TOO upset that Amy took to running from that very first race in 1988! Best wishes in Beijing!
What an inspiring story of perseverance. I hope some younger runners catch this video and pick up on some valuable lessons.

I had the good fortune of watching Amy run during her high school career in Indiana, and will never forget watching her run people into the ground at the State cross finals at Southeastway Park. It was awesome to see her achieve her ultimate goal.

great person/interview... i usually dont like to watch distance videos but she has a great story and deserves to go to the olympic... i have become a fan!!!!

Great interview. Thanks. Great hearing what goes through an Olympian's mind during a race. Great race, Amy. Hats off to Alberto, great coaching telling Amy not to go out hard and pull people along with her. Also, great prep of his athletes. The 600s in practice had Amy ready mentally. Negative splits are the way to go. Alberto was a great runner but he may be a better coach.

This may be your best work yet, Mark - very disarming and casual, she really opens up. What a story to tell, and what a triumph.
Amy Begley had to run a sub 70 sec 400 on the last lap to make the Olympic Team, which was a dream of hers since her first race when she was 10 years old. June 29, 2008
